Core Module :
Health and Safety
• Observation and monitoring Identify factors, and describe how to manage factors, that
contribute to injury in a rural workplace
• Demonstrate knowledge of hazards, hazard control, and the consequences of injury in a rural workplace
Electives – 3 of the following 4 modules are required
Tractor Skills
• Check and drive a basic wheel tractor on flat terrain
• Drive a wheel tractor on undulating terrain
• Drive a wheel tractor with an attached implement on flat terrain
• Drive a wheel tractor with an attached implement on undulating terrain
• Describe the legal requirements and occupational hazards associated with tractor use
ATV Skills
• Ride an ATV on flat terrain
• Demonstrate knowledge of safe operation of an ATV
• Ride an ATV on undulating Terrain
• Ride an ATV with trailed equipment
• Ride an ATV with mounted equipment or a load
Chainsaw Skill
• Operate and maintain a chainsaw
• Demonstrate knowledge of the Code of Practice relating to chainsaw use
Farm Workshop Practical Skills & Safety
• Follow safe working practices on an agricultural engineering worksite
• Maintain hand tools and service small engines
• Service and repair agricultural and/or horticultural machinery
• Describe the working principles, maintenance, and servicing of petrol and diesel engines
Agrichemical Skills (Growsafe Certificate)
• Demonstrate knowledge of safety with agrichemicals
• Use, maintain, and store agrichemical application safety equipment
• Identify and interpret agrichemical product information
• Understand the HSNO Act in terms of responsibilities when using agrichemicals to control weeds
